Fullness - 16 x 20 - Oil on Canvas

Fullness - 16 x 20 - Oil on Canvas

This is a view I see every morning from my back deck. The sun was just breaking as I looked out the window and the clouds were magnificent. I was happy to be able to paint this so I could remember the beauty of the sky that morning.

Grace - 12 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

Grace - 12 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

This painting was inspired by a drive on Sundays as I go to church. The hills go on forever it seems and you can see the road disappearing in the distance. I have stopped several times to take photos. This was painted from the photo but also my memory.

Quiet - 30 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

Quiet - 30 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

There is something about light, shadow and tall grass that grabs my attention. I really loved painting this piece. It is inspired by a photo I took in the Flint Hills area of Kansas.

Upward - 11 x 14 - Oil on Canvas

This little stand of trees and the light beyond really captured my eye as we were driving the backroads, I think in West Virginia. I was happy to interpret my feelings of the scene in paint, such a joy.

Yonder - 30 x 40 - Oil on Canvas

Yonder - 30 x 40 - Oil on Canvas

I take lots of photos of forgotten places, not sure why. There is something about the history and legacy of places that grabs my heart. There are stories untold within the walls. I loved the crookedy fence leading to this little building.

Earth Tones - 12 x 12 - Oil on Canvas

Earth Tones - 12 x 12 - Oil on Canvas

I drive this road almost weekly and the view of the curve and foggy distant trees captured my imagination enough that I wanted to paint it. I hope you sense a feeling a peace and calmness and simplicity as you view this work.

Light Beyond - 18 x 18 - Oil on Canvas

Light Beyond - 18 x 18 - Oil on Canvas

This was inspired by a view I see each day when I drove on Highway 2 to Broken Bow, there is light glittering behind and through the trees and I always look forward to that view.

Morning Road - 11 x 14 - Oil on Canvas

I was out walking one morning and I just had to take a photo of this sky. It was fun to translate into paint.

Prairie Glass - 30 x 40 - Oil on Canvas

Prairie Glass - 30 x 40 - Oil on Canvas

I was inspired by the glinting water I saw as were driving the backroads of the eastern plains of Colorado. I took a photo and painted a small version last year. As I looked at the photo again this year I realized I was still smitten, I was happy to paint a larger version.

Stillness - 18 x 24 - Oil on Cradled Wood

Reflections and deep water always grab my attention. The light coming through on the morning I took this photo was exquisite and the reflection of light is what this painting is about.

We see lots of old rusty pickups on our backroad adventures. I have been wanting to paint one for awhile and it must have been time. I love this style of pickup, it reminds me of my grandpa who would drive to our place in a pickup like this every morning for coffee. Sometimes he would have some Yucatan or Blackjack gum for us. Ahhhhh, sweet memories. I loved him so.

I was inspired to paint this piece by a photo I took last summer west of Merna. The grain bins look like a little family and I love the way the road recedes into the hills. Every painting teaches me something and this one taught me to take my time and not give up if it doesn't go as expected. Patience always helps. I loved painting this one.

This building reminds me of the one room schoolhouse I attended through the 2nd grade. I loved that place. So many great memories. I painted this little building up top where you can see forever.

This piece is inspired by two photos I took on our recent travels - a beautiful sky and a farm nestled in amongst the trees. I love both and it was a joy to put them together. I used brushes, a palette knife, and my imagination.

This view is just a few miles from our home at the foot of the Nebraska Sandhills. There are many roads like this in Nebraska, I like the symbolism of always taking you somewhere. I also wanted to paint this because of the fields. I was raised on a wheat farm in western Nebraska and my sisters and I farmed for my dad in the summer time. I guess I will never outgrow the beautiful shades of the earth, I really love them.

Calm Waters, 11 x 14, Oil on Wood Panel

I painted this from a photo I took of the Platte River east of Grand Island. It was a rainy day and the water was really shining. I took liberty with the colors and foliage, that's what I love about painting!

SOLD - Earthy Gray - Oil on Wood Panel - 12 x 12

Inspired by the view from my back yard on a foggy morning, I painted this with a palette knife, brushes and lots of layers. I especially enjoyed mixing the subtle earthy colors that I used for this piece. The sky gives us such a show at times. I hope it comes across in the atmosphere of this painting.

SOLD. Foggy Morning Oil + Cold Wax - 12 x 12

It was early morning and the sun had just risen in the east. I was driving home from exercise class and I came around the corner to the most beautiful scene of fog and mist. I was inspired by that beauty to paint this piece. It is available in my shop as an original or fine art print.

Walking Road North - Oil - 8 x 10

Walking Road North - Oil - 8 x 10

In the warmer months, I love to walk outside and this is one of my favorite roads to walk. It has a nice hill and when I get to the top I turn around and this is the view I see as I head back home.

All Lit Up, Oil 8 x 10

This was painted from a photo I took on our adventure to Door County, Wisconsin. I love wooden barns, especially white and red ones, and silos like this with a pattern at the top.....love, love. It was fun to paint, and challenging.

Custer County - SOLD - 9 x 9 - Pastel

I painted this from a photo taken very near where we live. I love painting the familiar. I wanted to paint this because of the way the road disappears over the hill and into the distance and I wonder where it leads. No matter where it goes, I know it will always take someone home.

Evening Light - 18 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

Evening Light - 18 x 24 - Oil on Canvas

This was painted from a photo I took on the east edge of Merna, actually inspired by our family member's out buildings and hay field. The sun was just going down and the light over the field was beautiful, and I loved the rolling look of the field. That is what I was trying to capture.

It was a foggy morning and I waited a little too long to go out with my camera. The sun was just starting to poke through the fog as I drove toward the east on Main Street. I snapped a photo with my iPhone and tried to recreate that magical, foggy scene I loved so much.

Guardians, Oil/ColdWax/Photography, 11 x 14

These buildings are no longer standing but stood as guardians at the edge of town by the railroad tracks for many years. I was able to get a photograph of the top part of the buildings before they were torn down. I am very grateful I had the photo and enjoyed using my imagination and memory to create this piece with photography, oil and cold wax.

Squeak's Barn, Oil/ColdWax/Photography, 18 x 24

Squeak's Barn, Oil/ColdWax/Photography, 18 x 24

This barn was one of our favorites to photograph, it belonged to Squeak, a colorful person everyone in town knew. He has passed away and the barn has been torn down, I am so glad I had this photo of it. I tried to add some color to this piece as a way to remember all the color he brought to many people's lives.

SOLD. Our Town Merna - 18 x 24 - Oil/Cold Wax/Photo

SOLD. This is a painting of one view of our little town, Merna, Nebraska. I took this photo a couple of years ago and wanted to experiment with adding dimension to it with oil paint and cold wax. This was a very fun process and I love the result, it was a delight to paint. It is painted on an 18 x 24 x 2 wood panel.

I was drawn to this scene because of the tall, soft grass and the horses running freely in the wind. I used my photo and cold wax and oil paint to create the original on a wood panel. Fine Art Prints are available in my shop.

Wind Poets - Photo/Oil/Cold Wax - 18 x 24

When it's snowy we go out. That's how I got the photo that was the beginning of this piece. I used oil paint and cold wax to finish the foreground, sky and edges. These windmills are a beautiful landmark of our town and I am grateful to do an art piece to feature them.
