I wrote a piece recently about not trying so hard. The ideas therein I heard from musician Ron Block and they were top of mind when I was in the throes of this painting. It is a good feeling to tell ourself to top trying so hard because something beautiful is going to happen and keep going. That's why I titled this piece Break Forth. Not only because those words are first in a beautiful hymn about morning light, but also because the creative spirit broke free. Soli Deo Gloria.
