Original Landscape Paintings
As Promised | Oil on Linen | 20 × 16 | © Beth Cole
Our campground had this beautiful pond with boulders all about. I loved looking at the light on the water and the rugged texture of the rocks and tried to recreate my experience for you to enjoy as well.
Cool Morning | Oil on Linen | 12 × 12 | © Beth Cole
The light is soft and cool right before the sun comes up. It is one of my favorite times of the day.
Illuminated | Oil on Paper | 8×8 | © Beth Cole
Trying to simplify a lovely scene to its essence. Painting with oil on fine art oil paper and mounted on a cradled birch panel.
"Pearl" | 12 x 16 | Oil on Linen | © Beth Cole
The rough and tumble building was enough cool for me to fall in love, but when the beautiful porcelain looking horse showed up at just the right time, I was smitten. The light was perfect that day and I hope it comes through.
Homestead Pasture | Oil on Linen | 16 × 20 | Plein Air | © Beth Cole
This piece was created en plein air on a beautiful spring morning as I looked northward to the pasture which is part of the family homestead. As I stand in our back yard it is a familiar and beloved view.
Waiting | 12 × 12 | Oil on Linen | © Beth Cole
If we wait, eventually, the light will always come.
Remnants (study) | 9×12 | Oil on Canvas | © Beth Cole
This painting is about the history of place. Abandoned now, I imagine this place as once full of life. I feel grateful to capture its spirit before it is completely gone. This is a study for a larger painting.
Fence Line | 8 × 10 | Oil on Panel | © Beth Cole
I have painted several versions of this cool tree on the fence line which borders the north pasture near our home. When it rains there are ponds everywhere and I love that.
Early Hours | 20 × 20 | Oil Painting on Linen | © Beth Cole
This painting was originally inspired by Willa Cather’s book, “A Lost Lady.” This started with my imaginings of the marsh behind the Forrester home in the early morning hours. I have continued to develop and refine the painting to its current, finished state.
Available through December 14th at Gallery 1516 in Omaha as part of the juried Nebraska Biennial 2025 Exhibition.
Impressions | 18 x 24 | Oil on Canvas | © Beth Cole
The day was warm and bright. I was out with my paints, staring westward at a row of trees. When I finished, I packed up and turned around to head back to the car. I looked up and saw the most glorious clouds, impressions of beauty in the sky. I should have turned around sooner. I stared for awhile and took some photos and this is my impression of that view.
Sunset Swim | Oil on Panel | 11 × 14 | © Beth Cole
Beautiful evening for a swim. I saw these cattle and the water and knew I wanted to capture it and share. Enjoy! This is an original oil painting.
Looking To The Light | Oil on Canvas | 9×12 | © Beth Cole
I was thinking about John 1:5 when I began to imagine this painting and bring it to life. This idea turns my heart and eyes to the light and reminds me of the Good Shepherd who knows our every need, in the light and in the darkness.
After The Rain | Oil on Linen | 12 × 12 | © Beth Cole
This is a spot I pass frequently and I always love seeing the effects of rain and how it creates this flooded area around the trees. The play of shadow and shine is what I was after and I hope it comes through.
Early Spring | Plein Air | 8×10 | Oil on Panel | © Beth Cole
Original oil painting which was painted en plein air very close to home.
“Wild Blue Yonder,” Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20, ©Beth Cole
I did a double take when I saw the soft cascade of clouds in the wild blue yonder of our Custer County sky. I love being able to enjoy the simplest little things that make all the difference to me.
Day Opens | Oil on Paper | 8×8 | © Beth Cole
Nature gives us the most beautiful material from which to be inspired....light, texture, reflections, color. I love to paint for this reason and many more. Painted with oil on fine art oil paper and mounted on a cradled birch panel.
