This is a study for a larger painting which is yet to come. It was created with a limited palette, I was inspired by the sky one morning when I was outside observing the day. I feel grateful for the sky in all its changing moods. It is painted on fine art paper and mounted on a natural wood cradled panel.

This flooded field caught my eye several years ago as I was scouting plein air painting locations. I did a small study of it and liked it well enough to paint this larger piece. The painting is framed with a natural wood float frame and ready to hang.

I have wanted to paint this location for quite awhile, but I always felt intimidated by it. This year was the year to try, and I'm so glad I did. I was smitten with the little creek which was shining in the surrounding shade. I hope my joy in this effort, with all its ups and downs, comes through. It was a wonderful painting experience and I am looking forward to the next one.

Painted first as a plein air painting in a plein air event near Auburn, NE. Painted secondly as a larger studio painting and sold. I love the barn so much I wanted to create a third piece with a different composition. I hope you feel the sense of history, mood and atmosphere in this painting. People don't build too many wood and stone buildings anymore. That is one reason I want to preserve it with paint.
